TOMORROW'S PLACE
PHASE 1

Affordable Housing Complex - Fall 2019

(Team project made with Ivy Branden)

Project information
DeSIGN concept

Tomorrow's place will provide a comfortable, energetic atmosphere where siblings can enjoy each other's company and meet other's that are dealing with similar situations. It is a place for healing and hope, which is how we chose the name for this apartment complex. Siblings will be able to learn new life skills in a uplifting community. The design is focused on younger generations with a sense of maturity to show older siblings they are being viewed as young adults. There are plenty of engaging areas that can help with the awkwardness of meeting new people. We also incorporated outdoor areas (a playground and a greenhouse with a study area) to influence activity and reduce stress.

Tomorrows Place is an affordable housing homeless shelter, designed for runaway siblings. Phase 1 was more of a conceptual assignment, we worked in teams of two to create the community space. Throughout the lobby there are many dual purpose units that support the strength and connection between sibling bonds. The color scheme includes all the colors found in nature. There are also a lot of curved surfaces that relate to the logo and protect young children from getting injured on sharp edges. There is also a study room, lounge area that converts into an indoor theater, and a cafeteria with custom tables that can enclose in the partition wall to create more space.
